32000 Pounds of Mislabeled Sausage Recalled

The New Jersey product liability attorneys at Breslin and Breslin are reporting that a meat manufacturer has recalled 16 tons of fully-cooked chicken sausage, which was sold in New Jersey grocery stores and several other states, because of misbranding and undeclared allergens.

Massachusetts-based Demakes Enterprises Inc. is recalling 32,228 pounds of its Thin 'n Trim Fully Cooked Chicken Sausage Buffalo Style after U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service officials discovered the problem during routine label inspections.

The product contains milk, a known allergen, which was not declared on the product label as required by federal law.

The mislabeled sausage was also shipped to stores in Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

The buffalo-style chicken sausage item was produced and packaged between Jan. 20 and Aug. 10.

The item subject to recall can be identified by the following label information:

  • 10 oz. vacuum-sealed packages containing 5 pieces of "Thin 'n Trim Fully Cooked Chicken Sausage Buffalo Style" and "Use By" dates from MAY:17-2017 through DEC: 06-2017.

The establishment number on the product is P-8891, which is inside the USDA mark of inspection.

Those who may have purchased the recalled product are urged not to consume it and to throw it away or return it to the store where they purchased it.
